The Verandah Band

The Verandah Band started one Friday night in 2000 on the verandah of the historic Jiggi Hall in Northern NSW, Australia, so local musicians could practice their chops while sharing a glass of wine. It has a fluid membership which has seen some 18 different participants over the years. There are around 8 regular participants at the moment. VB gathers monthly in a member’s shed to shake off cobwebs, run through some favourites and butcher a few new songs. As a community band, VB usually plays for local fundraisers or mate’s parties. In addition, the Verandah Band has recorded three albums of original songs – Jiggi Beach (2007), Jiggi Christmas (2011) and Jiggi Pug (2014) – to raise funds for local community projects. There will be more albums in the future as VB contains some chronic songwriters.
